Some people may remember El Papa Pollo restaurant that used to be at 25th and Arkansas and before that one east Harry. After they closed the restaurant, they announced that they are currently looking for a new space to open a brick & mortar spot again. Until then though, they have a food truck that’s parked at 13th & Oliver.

I made a pretty brief stop as I was in the area and headed to Wichita State. I ordered a handful of tacos including their steak, carnitas, marinated pork and chicken. Essentially, all the tacos they had on their menu. At $2.25, it wasn’t that bad of a price at all.
I’m not really sure what happened because I’ve been to both of their previous two restaurant locations, but this batch of tacos was not ideal. Everything was really mushy as if they had been soaking in grease all afternoon. The tortillas could barely hold the taco after a couple of bites.
With each bite, the flavors started to blend in. They were so bad that I ended up not even finishing most of the tacos and tossed them. I just couldn’t get over the mushiness of them.
I sure hope that once they land and find a spot, the quality improves because on that particular day, it left an awful impression on me.
